Investigating the Effect of Virtual Machines Number in Optimization of Job Scheduling Algorithm in Cloud Computing

In this paper various algorithms for job scheduling in distributed computing environments is investigated. Convergent scheduling algorithm (CS) was chosen to improve its performance. CS with six heuristics checks the priority of arrived jobs more precise than other algorithms, and increases time to achieve an optimal schedule. In addition, the quality of service (QoS) requisite for user is considered. Time-shared and the shared space-shared scheduling policies were applied in CS. These two policies reduce response time by optimal allocation of virtual machines to arrived jobs, and result in efficient use of computing resources. Examining the results of the simulation of the system shows that the percentage of system usage, license usage, and scalability of CS are optimized.
